A client with a background in fantasy games wanted a maneuverable PC case able to house two full-sized rigs, themed after a fantasy chest. The final product was around 150lbs, but designed so that the left and right sides could separate and extra handles could be attached for easier moving.

To make the design process quicker, I opted to use two off-the-shelf flat cases, and build the enclosure around those. To reduce weight in the final product I removed all the hardware from the frames that wasn’t necessary.

Each enclosure was designed around 4 2040 extrusions that all 6 panels could wrap around. Once the design was approved I sourced the material and got the panels laser cut and powder coated. After assembling the frames, I designed, printed and painted the logo shield that is displayed on the front and the swords that are hung on the sides. I wanted the swords to be removable so I engineered a magnetic holder so they can be detached and reattached at will. The last step was to cut and stitch leather handles for both the case and the swords.
